The Joy at Age 63 of Throwing in with the Opposition

I search for silver linings after the election of Trump.  If you’d prefer to rend your garments and wail piteously, read no further.

I voted for Hillary Clinton.  One misgiving was the prospect of defending her—defending my Democratic party—against the unceasing invective sure to follow her election, invective trained and rehearsed against the adamantine Barack Obama, now turned on a target with greater vulnerabilities.

Not a problem anymore.

Barack Obama was my president.  At last we elected an intelligent and spirited man of honor!  I feel about him the way fervent Republicans feel about the sainted Ronald Reagan.

I’d go to the mat for Obama. And I would have sucked it up for Hillary.

But now I’m free to oppose, to criticize, rail and reject. Once more, I can proclaim that everything sucks and it’s all a crock.

President Trump is an abomination, and the Republican party that spawned him makes filth and ordure look good.

Oh happy day—a rebel once more!
